Dr. Kadambini Ganguly, the first female graduate of India (1883) and the first female doctor was an exceptionalperson. She got her medical degree from England. Her husband Dwarkanath Ganguly sent her to London to study medicine. She was admitted to Calcutta Medical College but failed to secure a medical degree in the final examination. Undaunted,she went to England in 1892 to complete her education and after her return joined Lady Dufferin Hospital.
