from the then Principal of the College, Miss G.M. Wright. First secretary of the Guild was Sm. Hiranmoyee Sen. It is the
oldest Alumni Association among the government colleges in West Bengal. This association was set up mainly to serve the
noble cause of bringing the ex-students into the premises of the College and to develop their knowledge and achievement
in various fields of life for the welfare of the College.
This Premiere Institution can boast of six of its ex-students who became Principal of this College. The first person to
attain this honourable position was Chandramukhi Bose - one of the first woman graduates of British Empire and the first
M.A. of University of Calcutta.
Ms. Kumudini Das (Khastagir), Sm. Tatini Das, Dr. Dipti Tripathy, Dr. Pushpa Misra and Dr. Manimala Das are the other
five ex-students who made us proud by becoming the Principal of this august institution.
In 1971, the Alumni Association celebrated its Golden Jubilee. Some professors and past students initiated awards, memorial
prizes and scholarships to encourage the students of different departments of the college on the basis of their performance
in university examinations.
In 1991, a new constitution for the Association was adopted. The Alumni opened its door to the past and present teachers as
well. The Association changed its name once again to ‘Bethune College Sammilani’. An independent body was formed with the
Principal as the Chief Patron.
In 1996, Sammilani celebrated its 75th
